石牌坊在揭阳也被称作"石亭"。因为它是作为中华文明的象征,牌坊最早周朝就已经出现,开始的时候它只是门的称呼。到了唐代,城市开始实施里坊制,也就是把繁琐错乱的街道划分成方块状。
